Jonny Larsen, 44
U.S. House – 4th District

1) What challenges are most pressing for Utahns under 36, and how can you realistically respond within your office?
Affordability - Specifically housing costs. Buying a home or renting has been inflated by corporations. Community is built when people own their homes. Repealing Citizens United is a first step. Depending on what committees I would be assigned, either introducing proposed changes or working with representatives in HUD to help pass legislation making a better quality of life, because everyone deserves a piece of the American dream to buy a home at an affordable price.
2) As an elected official, how do you plan to respond to growing authoritarianism, corruption, and assaults on civil rights?
Bringing accountability to Congress. Impeaching and prosecuting the President and his administration, along with everyone involved that have caused this constitutional crisis we are in.
3) In a race with multiple candidates asking to represent the Democratic Party, what should make you stand out to Young Democrats?
The Democratic party has never had a candidate like me. I am a Marine combat veteran with a reach to the 40k veterans within my congressional district, as well as the 100k+ in our state. Along with the military families and supporters, my background of being in DC during 9/11, and my two deployments to Iraq in 2003 and 2004, make for a unique connection to the voters we must convince this year to vote blue.
